Can you add a backup system options to conduit this is relly missing to the gnome desktop and your application could be the only one to permit that easily.</description>

		<description>@daniels, I agree, I just think that there is a opportunity for GNOME to do something positive here, something like freedesktop git hosting, that (at least) maintains the current level of visibility afforded by a CVC system, while also increasing it in the situation you mention (complete off-line isolated development). 

That is of course providing that the GNOME solution is sufficiently attractive that people can use it instead of doing development completely offline.</description>

		<description>The thing is that DVCSes don't make this any worse.  Right now, what visibility do you have into what people do locally? When X worked with CVS, instead of making lots of tiny commits, rebasing as I go, on a private branch where people could see, I didn't commit anything as it wasn't ready for the main repository.  So the visibility into my private development was absolutely zero.</description>
